Our First Trip Together in the UAE: Exploring Sharjah, Ajman, and Dubai

Meeting for the first time is always unforgettable, but for us—Mahmoud and Sarah—our first meeting happened in the United Arab Emirates. We chose Sharjah as our starting point, but our adventures also took us around Ajman, Sharjah, and Dubai. It was more than just a trip; it was the beginning of our journey together.

Exploring Sharjah, the Cultural Capital

Sharjah is often called the cultural heart of the UAE, and walking through its streets gave us a glimpse of both tradition and modern life. From the stunning mosques to the souks, we found ourselves enjoying the calm and authentic atmosphere compared to the busier vibe of Dubai.

One of the highlights was simply spending time together in small cafés and exploring hidden corners of the city—moments that made the trip special.

A Taste of Egypt in Ajman: Tahabeesh

Among all the places we visited, Tahabeesh Egyptian Restaurant in Ajman quickly became our favorite. The flavors reminded us of home, especially for Mahmoud. From koshari and grilled meats to fresh bread and salads, the food was authentic, hearty, and comforting.

What made Tahabeesh extra special was not just the food, but the feeling of connection it gave us. Sharing Egyptian dishes together while being in a new country was an experience we’ll always treasure.

The Simple Joy of Karak Tea

If there’s one thing you can’t miss in the UAE, it’s karak tea. We discovered several small karak stores where a hot cup costs only 1–2 AED.

There was something magical about sipping warm karak together—whether after a long walk or during late-night chats. Simple, affordable, but full of comfort, karak quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip.

Dubai: The Sparkling Contrast

Of course, no trip to the UAE is complete without visiting Dubai. The city is the opposite of Sharjah and Ajman—glittering skyscrapers, modern malls, and bustling nightlife. We explored, took in the views, and enjoyed the energy of the city. But what made Dubai memorable was not just its landmarks, but the fact that we were experiencing them side by side.

Why This Trip Will Always Be Special

This wasn’t just another travel adventure—it was the first time we met in person. Every place we visited, every cup of karak we shared, and every meal at Tahabeesh felt meaningful because we were finally together.

Sharjah, Ajman, and Dubai will always hold a special place in our story—not just for their beauty and food, but for being the backdrop of our first moments as a couple.

Final Thoughts

If you’re visiting the UAE, we highly recommend:

  • Exploring Sharjah for its culture and calm vibe

  • Dining at Tahabeesh Egyptian Restaurant in Ajman for authentic Egyptian food

  • Trying karak tea from small roadside stores—it’s cheap, delicious, and part of UAE life

  • Experiencing Dubai for its modern attractions and city lights

For us, this trip was more than travel—it was about beginnings, memories, and love. ❤️
